Maker

Crafted by innovative Kenyan weavers who push the boundaries of traditional basketry by experimenting with modular construction techniques.

Meaning

'Maua' translates to flowers in Swahili. The overlapping, circular discs create a highly sculptural silhouette that mimics a cluster of blooming petals.

Making

Unlike traditional continuous-weave baskets, this piece is constructed modularly. Artisans meticulously coil and bind individual flat discs in natural ivory and deep purple. These discs are then securely stitched together in an overlapping pattern to form a structured vessel, finished with two matching woven ring handles.

Use

A striking, highly sculptural statement piece. Its unique open-work architecture makes it a beautiful, conversation-starting handbag for special occasions, or a stunning textural accent for interior styling.
